Q. Why do you print your own pictures? ~W. Eugene Smith
A. The same reason a great writer doesn’t turn his final draft over to their secretary… Philippe Halsmann in 1956
recommended Glazing
Museum Glass® anti-reflection picture framing glass with Conservation Grade UV Protection is the best glazing option available. Along with its nearly invisible finish, it effectively blocks up to 99% of harmful indoor and outdoor UV light rays so framed pieces remain clearer and brighter for longer.
Optium Museum Acrylic® Durable and strong, Optium is produced using a patented Tru Vue technology. A magnetron-sputtered anti-reflective, anti-static coating is bonded to an abrasion resistant, UV filtering acrylic sheet at an atomic level. This ensures long-lasting protection that doesn’t oxidize and degrade over time.

More about the prints...
We are living in an exciting time to print photographs. The level of control and consistency is at a level not seen before in history, and we employ the best known methods for creating master prints. In addition to regular colorimetric analysis, each print is visually matched to the artist's proof. We inspect the print for irregularities including scratches, paper flaws, dust, etc. Nothing receives a signature until this is verified.
Also of note is the level of "archivalness." The pigment and paper combinations we use for color images at the gallery are estimated to last over 165 years before any noticeable fading and/or changes in color occur (See Warranty Below). Black and white prints are estimated to last over 220 years before any noticeable fading and/or changes occur. Matted prints are mounted to and acid-free foam core with T-hinges and partial coverage corner holders. This is of course all obscured by the 8-ply mat and is the best reliable system should the print be re-matted or re-framed. |
"The world is dripping with talented photographers, and they are a dime a dozen. Angel practices the craft at the highest level, and produces masterpieces that your family will enjoy for generations. He knows that a print becomes part of your everyday life, and that the choice of light, color, atmosphere, and presentation deserves his undivided attention." Original large format prints offer deeper richness and subtlety not possible in small prints... |
Print FulfillmentYour prints are created when the order is placed. If you would like to see the actual product before you place an order, all prints are available to view as Artist Proof's at the Gallery. We do our very best to respond to requests in a timely manner. Expect 4-6 weeks for print orders to be fulfilled. We may be closed for extended periods of time while we are on location. We will contact you for order processing upon return. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Prints may be matted with white museum grade 8-ply mat-board (or double matted) and signed. Certificates of authenticity are provided. Shipping costs for matted or framed prints are quoted on a case by case basis and will be calculated using the best possible shipping method at that time. Shipping costs can run quite high and usually include a "Large Package Surcharge." You will not be charged for the sturdy packaging and crating that we build to protect your artwork. We are a small family operation that does not receive high volume shipping discounts like big online retailers. No robots or 24 hour distribution centers here! You may have the print shipped to the framer of your choice. We reserve the right to not accept orders or ship to certain locations. Upon delivery please inspect the package or crate for visible damage and note those damages on the carrier's receipt. Retain all materials and contact us immediately to begin an insurance claim. Please note, damaged items must be reported within 48 hours of delivery to be accepted for return or credit. All sales are final. |

Warranty:
To protect your investment, each print from the Kalākora Gallery includes a Lifetime Fade-free Warranty. Your prints are heirloom quality and will last for generations if you take proper care. Properly framed color prints should last over 165 years before any noticeable fading and/or changes in color occur. Properly framed Black and White prints should last almost 220 years before any noticeable fading and/or changes in color occur. Proper frames should include “Acid Free” or PH Neutral mats, glues, and tapes and include UV Filter Glass. Prints should be kept away from high humidity environments. Low quality frames, mats, and glass will decrease the time that your print will resist fading and degradation! Please note that using inferior glass that is not UV protected may decrease the life of your print by half. While that is still a very long time for a print to last, keep future generations in mind and invest in heirloom quality materials. Call us if you have any questions! If you have properly displayed your print and fading occurs we will replace it at no charge. Just return the artwork to us and we will ship you a new piece right away. All sales are final. |
