While working as a Climbing Guide on Mt. Rainier and around the world I began capturing images of the fantastic locations that I visited. In the beginning I wanted to show people what we saw on expeditions and try to bring a little of the magic home. I soon realized that the real magic is in the humanity that you encounter while traveling the world. We are all climbing a mountain, that’s life. Lessons learned in the mountains help us get the most out of every day. Today, the Kalākora Society is a growing collective of mountain guides who cannot ignore the desire to capture "the experience" at the highest level possible.
Every image that is sold reflects the philosophy behind Kalākora, a meditative pilgrimage to beautify the world through imagination. The journey required to create these images is evident in the outcome. This is a journey that takes time, maybe even a lifetime. It is not necessarily the destination that impresses us, but the path traveled to get there, for the distance is short, but the journey is long. |
Time is taken to create a lasting image that is exact in its intentions. From the equipment used to capture the image, to the choice of materials and presentation, this is not a rushed process but a methodology.

“For me it all comes back to climbing a mountain. There is no better metaphor for life.”
"The grand experiences of climbing and photography are best shared with good friends, and are rewarding catalysts for experiencing our planet."
