Frequently Asked Questions
Prints:
Q: Do you sell posters? A: No, we believe in selling the best possible products. The old adage "Buy quality - cry once; buy low quality - cry all the time." holds true. Living and working in areas with such amazing resources we are keenly aware that we don't want to be a volume business that over-consumes. When you purchase a print from the Kalākora Gallery, you are buying an heirloom. Q: Do you print custom sizes? A: We print custom sizes frequently. However, the standard print sizes are ideal for maximizing the use of materials. There is often no cost savings by requesting a smaller print, and even a small increase in size may greatly increase the cost of the print. If you can use standard sizes in your space, then you are getting the best bang for your buck. Q: We are going to wait until your prints go on sale... A: Prints are never discounted as "on sale." However, there are several ways to purchase prints at a relative discount. The first thing to know is that print prices increase annually, so purchasing prints earlier rather than later is a way to save some cash. Secondly, members of the Kalākora Society receive 5% - 10% discounts on all print purchases. Lastly, people who travel with us on journeys with International Mountain Guides or on Mount Rainier tours often receive steep discounts on images captured during their journey. Gallery:
Q: I'm traveling to Mount Rainier and would like to visit the gallery, but don't know my schedule and I'm not sure if I can keep an appointment to view the prints. What should I do? A: We realize that it is hard to keep tight schedules when you are on vacation in an unfamiliar area. Heck, we live here and it's hard to keep regular hours. We promise that we will do our absolute best to accommodate you. Don't hesitate to start the conversation! Events:
Q: I've missed many events! How do I stay in the loop? A: It's easier than ever to stay in the loop. The events page is always up to date, and we post regularly to Facebook. However, the best way to stay informed is to sign up for our newsletter below... We promise not to share your contact information or to spam you! |
Mount Rainier Excursions:
Q: Do you offer discounts for non-photographing spouses who would like join the excursions, but don't need instruction or access to the lectures and print sessions? A: Yes and No. On instructional Mount Rainier workshops that include time in the studio, and print-making we can offer a discount for non-photographing spouses. The discount varies depending on the size of the group. For tours that are focused on our location expertise, where shooting and hiking are the primary activities, we do not offer discounts. Please inquire... International Journeys:
Q: Are you part of International Mountain Guides? A: Adam is a guide for International Mountain Guides (IMG). He has extensive experience in Tanzania, Nepal, Tibet, Argentina, Alaska, Mexico, California and on Mt. Rainier. When you join an international trip mentioned on Kalakora.com you are signing up with IMG for a trip led by Adam Angel. IMG is not affiliated with the Mount Rainier photography tours or workshops. Q: Do you lead custom trips? A: Adam frequently leads private trips to all of the areas listed above. Minimum group sizes apply. Visiting:
Q: Should I fly into Seattle or Portland? A: The gallery is located 2 hours from both cities. While Seattle is closer, the drive is much less direct and there is far more traffic, which will slow you down. Portland is farther but the drive is easy cruising on freeways and highways. Bottom line, we prefer Portland! Framing:
Q: Is the frame shop open to the public? A: The frame shop is only for prints exhibited in and sold through the gallery. The print lab is available to the public. You can find details by clicking on the Kalākora Lab link below... |
