North of the Himalayan Crest.

On my first trip to Tibet in 2006, I captured one of my most popular images of a Tibetan Child. I'd met his mother a day earlier, and this day we decided to make some pictures. I shot many images of her along the walls of the Gyantse Dzong (Fortress) and the images were OK, but very distant. At the end of our little session, I signaled to her that her baby was beautiful. She immediately woke the baby up (which was not my intention) and before the tot could object he looked straight at me with pure intensity and then decided that I wasn't worth the noise and collapsed back to sleep. The gaze in the image of the child lasted a fraction of a second, but that was all it took...
